The MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is a free and open-source emulator application which allows you to play arcade games from your computer. It can be found at http://mamedev.org/ and, as of this writing, it is the most powerful and flexible arcade emulator software available for PCs. There are many emulators that exist that support certain types of arcade games, but the MAME is said to be currently compatible with over 10,000 different titles. With the added bonus of being able to play MAME games on your Mac, they are becoming more and more popular. This is where the Recalbox has come in. It allows you to run your favorite arcade retro games like Pac Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong or Gauntlet on your computer. The Recalbox is based on the MAME 0.109 for PC and 0.134b for Mac OS X 10.4 or higher (older versions are not supported). However, it is more specifically suited to playing older MAME roms (versions 0.129 and lower). You will not be able to play newer ROMs with the Recalbox. Another distinguishing feature of the Recalbox is that it supports a wide variety of configurable options and features that you can use and experiment with to tailor it to your needs. The Recalbox works on Mac OS X 10.5 or higher only. The latest version of the Recalbox is 1.3 released on March 5th, 2017. Your best bet for doing this is to search PAC-MAN ROMs - Google or PAC-MAN ROMs - Bing for a list of MAME sites that have a list of MAME ROMs. Be sure you download the complete zipfile, not just the individual roms. Once you have downloaded a zipfile, simply extract all the roms into a folder and then locate that folder in either the Recalbox or MAME Emulator's Rom Folder.
