Nagina is a 1986 Hindi-language Indian film directed by Ramesh Sippy. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Rekha, Amjad Khan and Lakshmi as the main protagonists. The music for this movie was composed by the legendary duo Laxmikant - Pyarelal. It is a remake of the 1979 Telugu movie "Tata Birla", which itself was based on Harold Robbins's 1974 novel "The Pirate", and had earlier been made into a Hollywood movie in 1976 starring Anthony Quinn and Candice Bergen. "Nagina" is the story of Amjad Khan, a man who lives with his brother, Rauf (Amjad Khan) and sister-in-law, Alima (Lakshmi), in Bombay. His sister-in-law is very affectionate with him, but treats her husband abusively. Alima has an affair with wealthy property dealer Mr. Yogeshwar Desai (Amrish Puri). Rauf runs a small restaurant with Shyamal (Mithun Chakraborty), both of them are friends since childhood. But Shyamal is not well-to-do. Rauf wants to educate his sister's daughter, Naina (Smita Patil), so he decides to send her to boarding school. At first, he sends Shyamal to deposit her at the boarding school, but Alima gets worried about her daughter's safety and asks Rauf to accompany them; he accepts under duress. On the way they stop at a dhaba for food; here, seeing his brother happy with Naina, Rauf reveals how he feels about Alima's affection toward Amjad. This hurts Amjad and he leaves for Bombay alone. On the train he falls in love with a young woman named Aarti (Reema Lagoo). He's fighting with himself whether to turn her away or not, but he is unable to, so they fall in love till she leaves for Delhi. She is unable to take him as a friend after this and starts avoiding his calls; she appears only when required. At last Rauf decides to apologize and proposes her. She accepts him as a friend once again, but she is soon again involved with Yogeshwar Desai (Amrish Puri). Rauf still remains loyal to her. Rauf is unable to help Shyamal financially, because his sister-in-law is leaving him for Yogeshwar Desai every night; he does not know what to do. His friend's father (Amjad Khan) gives him some money, but Rauf refuses it, because he wants Shyamal to be able to run the restaurant by himself. He additionally makes up excuses that Shyamal must work hard for his own sake. Shyamal doesn't believe that Amjad's money is enough for him and believes that Rauf owes it all to Amjad. cfa1e77820
